An idea that spur in my mind, but without the wishes of many, it would have been an idea in my mind. I still remember the day when I narrated the story to my sister, Rajini Charanya. She said, “It is interesting”. But there’s a vast difference in what I narrated to her in 15 minutes and the book in its present shape. My long, cherished dream of writing a book took shape, thanks to the support of my family and able guidance and advice of many persons close to me. I would like to thank everyone and in particular:
Dr. P. Muthulakshmi – Formerly Principal, Mano College, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University - my guru from my school days mentored me all along. She spent her valuable time in pruning and shaping the novel. She taught me the art of writing. She has been a medium to articulate my ideas and guided me through the entire exercise. Like a mother she was always ready to guide me in spite of her busy schedule. She took pleasure in bringing out the creativity in me. She was one of my best critics.
Mahadevan N – Senior Project Manager, Infosys by profession and brother-in-law by relation sowed the seed in me to write this novel and gave me ample confidence in bringing out the book.
Rajini Charanya – my sister, a professional dancer and a creative genius. I know how hard it was for me to get the words from her, ‘It is interesting’. I thank her for her support.Prof. ISK – one of the first to read the script and comment on it. His intelligent comments motivated me to learn the art of storytelling.
S. Venkatesan – Chairman, Singing Skylarks is a friend who helped me think beyond boundaries. The years spent establishing Singing Skylarks had been a satisfying experience and his support towards this novel is remarkable. I thank him for his support.
Sarah – my fiancée, a writer herself, meticulously helped me in editing the novel. Her comments helped me to improve my novel.
Priya, Priyanka, Moumita, Santosh, Sagar, Gunasekaran, JK, Vibha, Satya, Kavita and many more from Singing Skylarks with whom I shared my ideas and cherished every discussion with them.
My college, MIT — Madras Institute of Technology — which has the history of churning out great men for India such as Kalamji, helped me cherish my late teens. This college was my second home and the time I spent there was invaluable. I had earned inspiration for this novel from this great institute and great people around it. I thank them all… especially my friends – Yogesh, John, Ananth, Ravi, Prashanth, Karthik, Shridar, Saranya, Divya, Preethi, Dinesh, Vidhya, Sindhu; my professors – Muthuraj, Beena, Vaidhehi; the student’s hang outs – Canteen, Hostel bunds, Rajam Hall, Hangar, MIGs – and all the trees and ambience MIT provides.
Motorola and Six Sigma – the history of creating a revolutionary concept which helped mankind in many ways. I am fortunate to be one among them to adopt the science of improving your thought process. The fact that I am a trained Six Sigma professional always influenced me in my thought process. And I thank my friends and colleagues from Motorola who make my life pleasant.
